School.
Why would we go to school and learn pointless stuff that we are never ever going to need to know. For example in biology last week we were learning about how enzymes do stuff that causes other stuff to happen and how nucleotides have one phosphate, one deoyribose and two nitrogenous bases. Can anyone tell me why anyone would need to know that if your never going to do anything with science in your future... I didn't think so. Next example how in World History we are learning about how Egyptians built pyramids from this pharaoh guy and how the Nile River helped a lot of people and helped create a new city. Like it is kind of interesting but I don't know how I would ever find this information useful. My last and final example geometry. Not just Geometry but any math subject. If you have to do anything on a calculator you probably won't need to know it, its not like you can do the square root of pie in you head and you don't really even need to know that unless some nerd comes up and asks you. If your standing in the grocery store and you need a 1.32 pounds of carrots and you don't have someone to weigh your carrots what are you going to do, are you just going to whip out your calculator and do a bunch of square root times pie plus tax? I don't think so. All you need to know with math is your basic facts such as 1+1=2 and 2*2=4. When I go to school I get really bored in those classes because I know that I am never going to use any of this information that they teach us. If I were to chose the classes I would want to take and not have to take any specific classes I would take English classes, photography, criminalogy and study hall, but you know what I can't do that because this isn't a perfect world. Well that is all I have to say for now. Until we meet again I will be in the middle of a Hale-storm.

Half the stuff we learn in school we will never need to know. It is beyond pointless. If they taught us what we need to know and nothing else, we would only need to go to school till like 3rd grade. Wouldnt that be nice :) By the time you get to high school you are checked out and sick of school. Could not agree with ya more hale.

ReplyDeleteOn the History topic, I agree. I know people always say History repeats itself, but ANCIENT EGYPT, I am talking ANCIENT Egypt, can't repeat itself.

ReplyDeleteAnyways, school is school & we have to go whether we want to or not. But we have it for a reason. Clearly we aren't going to whip out calculators, but at some point it will come into play.
I feel we should be able to choose the paths that we want to take to a life for ourselfs. I feel that the school district is trying to make up take courses that we will most definetly never use. Like social studies I don't think that people should have to know the exact date and exact country to every war known to man. Its POINTLESS!!!!!
