So last Thursday and Friday in Comp. we were in the lab and we were supposed to be working on either our blogs or are 3 papers that are due Monday. Well the meaning of IC time to me is that you just do whatever you want and you can do the work later. So the whole period Amanda Bennett, Bober(t) Haaland, and myself were on the computer reading random facts. Technically we were looking up topics for our blog so we really were doing our work.
Its crazy all the random things you learn from reading random facts. Some of the things that I learned were.....
1. When you chop onions and you are chewing gum you can't cry. How do you find that out?? Do they test it or something have different people chewing different things while chopping onions to figure out which one will help you not cry? just wondering.
2. Cats sleep 16-18 hours per day. How would anyone no that? Would you sit next to your cat all day with a timer trying to figure out how long it sleeps?
3. 111,111,111 x 111,111,111 = 12,345,678,987,654,321. That is actually pretty interesting. When Amanda and I saw this we didn't really believe it so we had to do it on her calculator.
4. Linda Wolfe is the most married women in the world. She legally married 23 men one after the other; each marriage ended in divorce of death of the husband. Well that is just sick and wrong to get married 23 times and its a little suspicious how all of her husbands died. Weird.
5. Ants never sleep. How can they do that, they make all of those little ant hills and they would have to get tired you would think.
6. They are 318,979,564,000 possible combinations of the first four moves of chess. To me that doesn't really seem possible but again I'm not smart enough to figure out how to play chess.
7. There are 540,000 words in the English Language and is still growing. When you first look at that number you think that's a really small number and there would have to be way more words then that but then it does seem right because its a lot more words then you think.
8. Everyday 15 billion cigarettes are smoked worldwide. That is beyond gross that that many cigarettes are smoked each day! I can't even imagine smoking one cigarette or being around someone that is smoking.
9. Women blink almost twice as much as men do. That's crazy you never notice how much you blink until you try really hard not to blink.
10. Fortune Cookies were actually invented in America (not China) by a man named Charles Jung. By the looks of his name he was probably Chinese so wouldn't that count as China invented it?
Well I think that my two days were used very productively since I did write a blog about it, it wasn't the greatest blog but whatevski. Plus I learned a lot of random facts from these very random facts.
Well until we meet again I will be in the middle of a Hale-Storm.
BOBER(T)! I <3 you ginggggggggggy!
ReplyDeletei could never evern not sleep. i could get 12 hours of sleep and still go to sleep early. haha, but i know you could to. i dont get how ants do it. :)
ReplyDeleteI love random facts! Because then I can go tell people facts that they don't know and I feel smart. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you love random facts and have an ipod touch you need to get that app where is like 9500 facts. I LOVE IT! Here's one I learned - Dolphins sleep with one eye open.
ReplyDeleteRandom facts could honestly keep me intertained for a very long time
ReplyDeleteThose random facts were actually really interesting. I'm pretty sure I didnt know any of them. I would probably say your two days were spent very well.
